The Arai Corsair-X Helmet has taken helmet technology and rider protection one step further, engineered to not only guard against direct impacts, but also specifically designed to minimize the forces of "glancing off" impacts. Following true Arai fashion, this helmet features a stronger shell and smoother shape that is more likely to redirect impact energy rather than absorb it, thereby decreasing the amount of force transferred to the body.

To increase the potential to glance off impact energy, the VAS (Variable Axis System) side pod and pivot cover are smaller in size and positioned lower on the shell. The helmet is constructed from Super Fiber and other special synthetic fibers developed for F-1 helmet visor panels, assembled and bonded by Arai experts. A specially-developed resin creates stronger bonds between the shell materials, while maintaining a lighter weight. The shell itself has superb tensile strength due to a variety of carefully-positioned materials and lightweight resin.

Approved by DOT and meeting FMVSS 218 standards, the Arai Corsair X Helmet features the exclusive VAS shield and side pods. The variable axis (moving pivot point) allows the shield mount position to be lower than most helmets, while the dual-function lever releases both the side pod and the face shield for quick and simple removal. The larger latch design provides intuitive and seamless shield operation, capturing and holding the face shield closed securely, with a de-mist position to slightly crack the shield open.

The VAS MAX Vision shield comes standard, providing better visibility in all seasons and for all types of riding, and is equipped with a clear anti-fog Pinlock insert. Normally, the shield mounting position must remain relatively high, as a lower shield pivot would not allow the shield to open or close. However, the VAS (Variable Axis System)'s variable axis (moving pivot point) enables shield opening and closing even with the lower shield position.
