Arai XD-5 Unisex Dual Sports Motorcycle Helmet

The redesigned helmet features a stronger, rounder, and smoother shell compared to the previous generation. The smooth, round shell design allows the helmet to "glance off" impact energy, helping to prevent that energy from transferring to the rider's head and body before the EPS foam is tasked with absorbing it. This helmet is constructed with a uniformly strong vacuum-formed Super Fiber, which is 30% stronger than traditional fiberglass, and it is DOT approved, meeting FMVSS 218 standards.

The interior of the helmet has been widened and features a more open jaw area, providing added comfort and easier ingress. The VAS-A face shield system allows for tool-less change and removal, and the helmet is designed to be easily removed for use with goggles. Most goggles can clear the shield in the raised position without removal, and the helmet is Pinlock ready, with a Pinlock 120 Lens included.

The redesign also focuses on improving wind buffeting and stability at high speeds. The helmet has been redesigned to prevent wind buffeting at highway speeds, and it features easily removable (one flat-head screw per side) components for improved high-speed stability. The adjustable height allows for a customized fit to the rider's preference.

The helmet's ventilation system has been enhanced, with forehead logo vent ducting allowing for optimal airflow in any riding position, and a top vent for improved top-of-the-head cooling in hotter climates or conditions. The chin vent has large intake ports, double the size of the XD-4 chin vents, and an inner chin vent shutter for additional tunability of the chin vent's airflow and direction. The rear AR Spoiler draws hot air out of the helmet while reducing turbulence at high speeds, and the chin, forehead, top, and rear spoiler vents are all adjustable to the rider's preference or riding style.

The comfort features of the helmet have also been improved, with a fully removable, replaceable, and washable comfort head liner and cheek pads constructed of odor-resistant materials. The helmet also features removable 5mm foam on the left and right for micro-fitting, along with an adjustable top liner. A pull-down air flap under the chin bar reduces wind intrusion and improves ventilation.

The helmet's design also includes features to accommodate communication systems, with a re-sculpted Hyper-Ridge shell design providing a flat surface for mounting, and seamless speaker mounting without removing the cheek pad covers. An integrated hook and loop panel with a large, deep recess is provided for premium speakers.
